Half for the Healer

Ten Suns in the life of a clinic medic, in a hall that makes the air.

A standalone novella of The Othrys Cycle.

Ysa works the day shift at the clinic in Hall Eleven, the oldest of the halls that grow the swarm's air. There are nine cots, never quite enough filter cans, and a bench outside the door where the regulars sit and talk.

This week she means to cook one proper pot of stew. Between shifts she prices krill at the market, half listens to gossip about Syndics and Wardens, and sits with an old rigger who tells the same stories he always has. The cold is coming, and his cough is getting worse.

A quiet book about work, food, neighbours, and the small ways people look after each other.
