Seven for the Stars

Some favours should never be taken.

Deep in the drift, the Engine is waking. Kaelen takes the Feralis Junior down the well to stop it before it finishes.

At the rim, every instrument goes dark, and a woman is standing in his hold. No ship. No suit. She offers to take the Engine away, as a favour.

Garrick says no. Kaelen says yes.

The swarm celebrates. Then the light begins to change, and her price comes due.

The finale of Kaelen and Rian's story: found family, a queer slow burn that finally catches fire, and a crew learning what a favour costs.
